Name Stem Flower Handprint Craft - Step by Step

Flowers with names in the stems make such beautiful, personalized art. No calligraphy skills? No problem! I have made it simple for you with an easy to edit Canva template. Canva is a free and easy to use online software. I will show you step by step how to edit the names and flower stems. Then all you have to do is print and add your child's handprint as the flower. This personalized handprint flower craft will make a special keepsake that any mother will cherish!

To get started you need to purchase the template here. Then download and open the instructions file. Canva can be used on a computer or as an app on a mobile device.

Click the link in the instructions PDF to open the template in Canva. If you have never used Canva then you will have to create a free account.

Next, type in your child's name or names.

The text box may need to be expanded for the name to fit. Just click and drag the white bar at the end of the text box until the text fits correctly.

With the new name, the parts of the stem may not line up correctly, but this is easy to fix.

On the 2nd page there are additional stem pieces and leaves to make the stem look just right.

Zoom in and line up the pieces so they look like one continuous line. Repeat these steps for another stem or delete the 2nd stem if you don't need it. Then select all the pieces of the one stem and center them on the page. If you mess up you can always click the undo arrow at the top of the page.

Add whatever phrase you like to the bottom of the template. You can also change the font or font size if you'd like.

Once you are done editing, it's time to download your file. Click on "Share" and then "Download."

I recommend downloading as a pdf. But you can choose whatever file type will be easiest for you to open and print on your device.

Be sure to select the "Current page" so you don't save or print the additional pages that you don't need.

Click "Download." Then find your file, open it, and print.

All that's left to do is add your child's handprint. I recommend using washable kids' paint. Choose a color and pour a bit of paint onto a paper plate. Dip the hand into the paint and then press the hand onto the printed template. Tada! (You can always reprint if needed!)

I hope this template helps you create a beautiful gift for Mother's Day or any special occasion. Happy crafting!
